Professor Yunmi Park received her Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A&M University. Following appointments at Auburn University and Ewha Womans University, she joined Seoul National University in 2023. A member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), she draws on experience founding and operating an urban-planning and design practice to connect academic research with professional planning. Her work uses AI, urban big data, spatial analysis, computer vision, and digital twins to address population decline, urban shrinkage, vitality, spatial restructuring, streetscapes, and walkability and to translate findings into planning and policy decisions.
She maintains international research collaborations and participates broadly in academic and policy activities. Her public service has included committees of the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Korean ministries, and she serves on editorial boards of international journals including the International Journal of Urban Science and Applied Spatial Analysis and Policy.
