  • Courses may be repeated within the acquisition limit, but no more than two courses may be taken per semester (in the integrated master's and doctoral course, two courses may be taken upon approval by the advisor).
  • This is the maximum number of Credits recognized upon graduation from graduate school thesis research, and there is no minimum number of Credits required.

  • * Applies to students enrolled in 2020: At least 1/2 of the Credits must be completed as “Graduate major courses in the Department of Civil, Urban and Environmental Engineering.” (12/18/30 Credits for master's/doctoral/integrated courses respectively)
  • * Applicable to students enrolled in the 2021 academic year: Completion Credits for thesis research courses are not recognized as course Credits within the major: (Completion Credits for each course - Thesis research completion Credits)
  • The actual completed thesis research Credits are applied within the range of Credits recognized for thesis research completion.
  • Graduate school courses offered in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Major and Smart City Engineering Major are cross-recognized as major courses in the Department of Civil, Urban and Environmental Engineering (course numbers 457.***, M1586.******, M3204.****** graduate school courses).
  • However, for students majoring in urban planning and urban design in the Department of Civil, Urban and Environmental Engineering, courses offered in the “Environmental Graduate School” and “Urban Design Collaborative Course” are recognized as major courses in the Graduate School of the Department of Civil, Urban and Environmental Engineering.
  • (Applies to students enrolled in 2020) Graduate school thesis research (457.803) is included in the Department of Civil, Urban and Environmental Engineering graduate school major Credits.
  • (Applicable to students enrolled in the 2021 school year) Even when completing a graduate school thesis research course in another major, it is recognized as meeting the thesis research requirements of the home department.
  • Credits earned from undergraduate courses are not included in the graduate major Credits of the Department of Civil, Urban and Environmental Engineering.

Submission of thesis
qualification test
  • Must pass the comprehensive exam (major) and foreign language exam (English or Korean).
  • Comprehensive exam (major): Conducted once at the beginning of each semester (March/September) for students registered for more than two semesters (completing environmental and safety education and students from the class of 2016 or higher must complete respect for life (suicide prevention) education at the College of Engineering)
  • Foreign language test: Replaced with regular test scores (revised TEPS score of 327 or higher or TOEFL score (86 points from the 22nd grade, 96 points from the 23rd grade))
  • International students: Choose between English or Korean (however, students whose native language or official language is English must choose Korean)
  • If you complete the “Korean Language and Culture 1 or 2” course for foreign graduate students, you may be exempt from the Korean language subject of the thesis submission qualification exam (completed by the semester prior to application for thesis evaluation, completion Credits not included, completed for master’s and doctoral degrees respectively)

  • However, the period of military service obligation, pregnancy and childbirth period (1 year per pregnancy and childbirth), and childcare period (2 years per child) are not included in the above period (submit supporting documents).
  • Not including the child-rearing period is limited to the period for raising children under the age of 8 or in the second grade of elementary school, and cannot exceed 2 years per child in total, including child-care leave under Article 66, Paragraph 5, Item 4 of the School Regulations.
  • Extension of thesis submission deadline: If an extension is requested when the thesis submission deadline (4 years for master's degree, 6 years for doctoral degree) approaches, the head of the affiliated university (graduate school) may approve an extension of up to 2 years.
  • Research student registration for students who have exceeded the thesis submission deadline: Among students who have exceeded the thesis submission deadline extension (4 years + 2 years after completion of master's degree, 6 years + 2 years after completion of doctoral degree), if a justifiable reason is recognized, the dean of the affiliated university (or graduate school) may grant an additional opportunity to submit thesis within the range of 3 years only once after deliberation by the graduate school academic committee (approval for 3 years from the time of application)
Dissertation review
  • Registration of those scheduled to submit thesis, submission of documents, and screening (students who have completed the course must register as a research student)
  • Applicants who have passed all screening processes determined by the screening committee appointed by the head of the affiliated university (graduate school)
  • Please refer to the thesis submission review plan.
Remarks
  • When registering for courses in other departments, submit the “Application Form for Approval of Course Completion in Other Departments” (refer to the form in the data room on the undergraduate website)
  • When registering for undergraduate courses, submit the “Application for Approval for Completion of Undergraduate Courses” (refer to the form in the data room on the undergraduate website; undergraduate courses are recognized as course completion Credits up to 6 Credits in total for graduate school)
  • Students enrolled in the integrated master's and doctoral program who wish to submit an application for withdrawal from the integrated master's and doctoral program can apply (approval from the advisor) and submit it through the portal during the academic year change period every semester.
  • The same course may not be taken more than once across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, except for Graduate Thesis Research. Duplicate courses are handled in accordance with the university’s credit-recognition policy.
  • In the case of group 2 subjects in graduate school, if the subtitles are different, they are recognized as separate subjects.
  • Be sure to check the graduate course course manual
  • If there are internal regulations of the relevant laboratory, the internal regulations of the laboratory are also complied with.
  • In the case of Smart City Engineering major, compliance with the regulations of the “Smart City Innovative Talent Development Project”
  • It is recommended that you check graduation requirements at the undergraduate office before registering for courses for the completion/graduation semester.
