Professor Juhyuk Moon received his B.S. in Architectural Engineering and M.S. in Structural Engineering from Seoul National University and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in sustainable construction materials. He served as an assistant professor at Stony Brook University and the National University of Singapore before joining Seoul National University in 2018. After appointments as assistant and associate professor, he became a full professor in March 2025. He conducts active research on sustainable structural materials and mineral-carbonation-based carbon capture, utilization, and storage and serves standards organizations, academic societies, and international journals.
His Multiscale Structural Materials Laboratory develops next-generation structural materials that combine conventional structural functions with sustainability, ultralight weight, self-healing, or self-sensing capabilities. The laboratory also studies mineral-carbonation solutions using industrial by-products and linked to carbon credits, with the goal of contributing to carbon neutrality and more sustainable and resilient infrastructure and smart cities.
