Professor Ho-Kyung Kim received his B.S. in Civil Engineering and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Seoul National University. After postdoctoral research at the University of Southern California and service on the faculty of Mokpo National University, he joined Seoul National University in 2009. He served as a POSCO Chair Professor from 2017 to 2026 and currently serves as Vice President of IABSE, Director of SNU's Integrated Research Institute of Construction and Environmental Engineering, and Director of the Floating Infrastructure Research Center (FLORA). He is scheduled to serve as the 59th President of the Korean Society of Civil Engineers in 2027.
His research analyzes the dynamic behavior, long-term performance, and safety of long-span bridges through wind-tunnel testing, real-time aeroelastic hybrid simulation, data-driven analysis, and numerical modeling. Recent work develops design and performance-verification technologies for floating structures exposed to combined wind, wave, and current loads, including floating offshore wind systems, small modular reactors, data centers, and bridges.
