Professor Jae-Yeol Cho received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Seoul National University and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After working at Samsung C&T, he joined Seoul National University in 2007. He leads research in concrete structural design and extreme-performance evaluation and directed the establishment of the Extreme Performance Testing Center, Korea's only large-scale facility of its kind and one of the world's leading facilities for testing structures under cryogenic, impact, and blast conditions.
His work develops advanced experimental techniques and validates new materials and construction methods in concrete structures. By studying structural behavior under collision, explosion, and other extreme conditions, he supports the development of technologies, design codes, and standards with applications in infrastructure, defense, mechanical engineering, and aerospace.
